Hydroelectric Power Plants
Propadu Energy is currently developing run-of-river low-head Small Hydroelectric Power (SHP) plants in the state of Pahang with our strategic partner, Wazan Corporation Sdn Bhd. Our planned fleet of SHP power plants range in capacities from 20-megawatts to 30-megawatts, providing consistent reliable electrical supply from a carbon-neutral renewable energy source.
These SHP power plants will employ high-efficiency horizontal Kaplan or Bulb turbines to ensure reliability and a high capacity-factor for year-round availability and a long service lifespan.
Our first 30-megawatt hydropower plant will be a barrage-type run-of-river SHP plant situated along the Pahang River Cascade in the district of Jerantut, Pahang that is estimated to produce over 150,000 MWh of clean carbon-free power annually, equivalent to a carbon avoidance of over 100,000 tons of CO2. This will be the first of up to six SHP power plants that will be developed in the state of Pahang.
We are currently evaluating and assessing four sites in Perak for their hydropower potential in the region of 30 to 50 megawatts per site. Altogether, Propadu Energy intends to develop and operate a fleet of small hydropower plants with a combined output of over 150 megawatts by 2027, which will swell to over 250 megawatts by 2029.
It is our long-term goal to be a hydropower leader in Peninsular Malaysia in the next five years supplying clean, reliable, consistent carbon-neutral electrical power to Tenaga Nasional Berhad as well as private sector clients such as datacenters.
